Work Experience at Spice Clothing Boutique, Day 4
Hello Lovelies,
Work experience was really
exciting today, it was so exciting that I even have a story for you!
First off we had new stock
arrive, I got to put them all on hangers ready for Maddie to steam. We got some
new play-suits and cute little shift dresses. We did merchandising too, which
means we moved all the stock around to a different spot in the store. I also got to help dress the
window display mannequins with new stock.
Now here is the story that I
promised.
At about 9:30 two high school
students from a local school came in looking for an 18th birthday
party dress. About 5 minutes later
another girl who was friends with the other two girls came in. The girls got
several different dresses for the birthday girl to try on and Maddie who
works at Spice helped pick out a couple of items as well. During this time a
boy, who was friends with the girls, came in and started talking to Maddie who
works at spice. It turns out they are friends and got chatting, he was the
school girls lift back to school. He then shortly left to wait in his car
outside.
The girls all stayed in the
changing room as the birthday girl tried on the clothing, which is a bit odd.
The birthday girl would try on a dress come out of the changing room and go
back in with her friends. One of her friends went and grabbed a size eight of a
dress that she had already tried on in a size six. Not long
after the girls suddenly packed up and started putting dresses back; they put
the size eight back and not the six. Where was the size six?
I naturally I offered to put the
dresses away because I didn’t have much else to do. As the girls were exiting
Dora stopped and asked where the size six was. The birthday day girl said that
one of the girls put it away and that she didn’t have it. She then proceeded to
show us in her bag and her baggie pants, which I would like to point out is not
something you normally do when you exit a store.
When the girls had gone we searched
the whole store, and couldn’t find it. So then Dora went out to main street
where they were heading, and found them getting in the boy's car about to head back
to school. Dora politely asked the birthday girl to come back in the shop and
show us where the size six was. The girl agreed at first, and then suddenly declared
she wouldn’t go back in that store. Then Dora said, well you have five minutes
to return the dress, before I take things further. The girl then got in the car with
her friends and left, and Dora took a photo of the car for ID for the
police.
We then waited about ten minutes
and then reported it to the police ( who then stopped in later today).
About half an hour to forty-five minutes after the robbery the boy who
was with the girls (who owned the car) came back into the store. He then told
us that the girl did take it, and that she pulled it out of her shirt after
they drove off. He said he didn’t have anything to do with it, and that he
honestly believed that the girls were actually shopping. When he realized they
had taken it he came back after dropping them at school. He then proceeded to
give us the name of the girl who took it and the names of the other girls involved,
He also requested to be left out of it all together. However when we reported
it to the police we gave them his name because it was the only name we knew, oh
well.
After lunch the police came in
and gathered information and asked questions for about half an hour. The principle
of the school that the girls went to was also contacted and told the whole
story.
The last I heard was that one of
the girls had been expelled from school and the others were suspended. Also the
girl who stole the dress who was the birthday girl turned 18 today, which means
she can now be charged as an adult!
Here is a photo of the dress that was taken
All in all it was a very
exciting day
